Security & privacy

Your family's memories aren't a data product.

The Book We Keep is being built by parents for parents. This page is an honest accounting of what we protect today, what's still in development, and what we will never do.

What's true today

No public profiles

The Book We Keep has no social feed, discovery, or public sharing. Family archives are visible only to invited members.

You choose contributors

Every person who can view or add memories is invited by you. Access can be revoked at any time.

Never used to train AI

Family content is never used to train third-party AI models. Transcription and organization run on isolated infrastructure.

Never sold, never advertised

The Book We Keep is a subscription. Your family's memories are not a data product.

In development for production

Encrypted family vaults

End-to-end encrypted media storage with user-held keys is in active development for the production release.

Independent security review

The Book We Keep will complete an independent security assessment before general availability.

One-click family export & delete

Full archive export in an open format, plus a clean delete that removes all originals and derivatives.

These are commitments and not yet completed features. The current prototype is intended for founding-family research and does not accept real family media at scale.

The promises we won't break

  • • Family content will never be sold.
  • • Family content will never be used to train AI models.
  • • There will never be a public profile, feed, or advertising surface.
  • • You will always be able to export, delete, and leave.

Your family's story deserves more than a camera roll.
